Alexander Boyd, is a new 'Contemporary Menswear Collection' Made in England, designed by Bruce Montgomery and launched at Pitti Uomo, Florence in June 2009. Handmade in our Kent factory the Spring Summer 2010 Collection consists of men’s shirts and ties and was well received by both international independent and departmental stores.
The Collection is currently receiving a series of high profile editorial reviews. Founded in 1913 Alexander Boyd is based in Brompton, Kent with a retail store in Spitalfields, London E1. Both are synonymous with traditional English shirt making, handmade ties and scarves of the highest quality. We are constructing an online e-commerce site which will be 'live' in September 2009. The range consists of twelve styles made from a wide range of two-fold cotton fabrics from the best European mills, in particular Swiss cotton shirtings which have a slight vintage mood. Oxfords, poplins and end-on-ends are interwoven with hairline and bold stripes together with jacquard weaves.
The main colours are white, ivory, pale blue, navy and black. Cream poplin is used as a highlight detail in the yoke and gauntlet of each shirt. Split four piece yokes, French seams, loop details and contrast panels all add authentic interest to the shirts.
The complimentary tie collection comprises of fifteen designs woven in Suffolk and hand made in England at our Kent factory. The narrow tie has a six centimetre blade, self tipped and loop detail with a square narrow end. The designs cover semi-plain structures, stripes, geometric designs and paisleys. In addition this contemporary Collection is completed by with silk polka dot and silk/cashmere scarves, which are all handmade and hand knotted.
